The amiiraa Story: From Modest Beginnings to a Movement
Every great story begins with sincerity and amiiraa’s story is no different.
More than 25 years ago, in the heart of Johannesburg, a humble yet visionary man
known lovingly as Uncle Said planted the first seed of what would later become
amiiraa. With nothing more than hard work, faith, and an unwavering commitment to
serve his community, he founded Ameeras Fashion, a small store with a big
dream: to provide the Muslim community of South Africa with the best and latest in
Islamic fashion, at prices every family could afford.
Over time, Ameeras Fashion became a household name. From Johannesburg to
Durban to Cape Town, it wasn’t just a brand — it was part of people’s lives. Mothers
shopped for Eid outfits, fathers found their Thobes & Jubbas, and young girls found
inspiration in modest fashion that allowed them to express both faith and beauty.
But after two and a half decades of success, something stirred within us — a
realization that would change everything.
The Great Reset: A Turning Point
In 2022, by the Grace of Allah, we experienced what we call at amiiraa, The Great
Reset. We began to look deeply — not only at the industry around us but at
ourselves. We asked the uncomfortable questions:
What are we truly offering? Are we simply a retail brand — or could we be something
more?
Through countless late nights, deep reflections, and heartfelt discussions, one truth
became clear: while fashion was what we sold, it was not why we existed.
We saw a need greater than clothing — a need for connection. Living in a
predominantly non-Muslim society, many Muslims struggled to maintain a strong,
proud bond with their Islamic identity. We realized that our community didn’t just
need beautiful clothing — they needed belonging, empowerment, and a reminder of
who they truly are.
That’s when we asked the question that became the heartbeat of Amiiraa:
How do we empower our Muslim community?
The answer was simple yet profound:
By igniting a deep and proud connection between Muslims and their Islamic
identity.
The Rebirth: From Ameeras Fashion to amiiraa
And so, Ameeras Fashion was reborn — not just with a new name, but with a new
soul.
amiiraa was born — a name that symbolises purity, beauty, and leadership. No
longer just a brand, but a movement, a mission, a cause. We no longer measured
success in sales alone, but in impact — in how many hearts we could touch, how
many families we could inspire, and how many Muslims we could help reconnect
with their faith and values.
This transformation changed everything — our purpose, our people, and our culture.
Every member of the amiiraa family became more than an employee — they
became an ambassador of a noble mission. Together, we worked tirelessly to align
every part of our business with our higher purpose: to serve, to uplift, and to
empower.
The Journey of Growth
From that moment of renewal in 2022, our journey took off faster and farther than we
ever imagined.
What began as a single store quickly grew into a network of 10 thriving stores
across the Western Cape and Gauteng, along with our national online store and
Takealot platform, serving Muslim families across South Africa.
Each new branch wasn’t just a business expansion — it was another beacon of
identity, faith, and belonging for our community.
And Alhamdulillah, this is only the beginning.
The Future: A Global Vision
At amiiraa, our dreams extend far beyond the borders of South Africa. We believe
our mission — to strengthen Islamic identity through excellence, beauty, and
purpose — is a global one.
We envision a world where Muslims everywhere can walk with pride, dress with
modesty, and live with a deep connection to their beliefs. A world where the next
generation grows up knowing that their Islamic identity is not something to hide —
but something to celebrate.
With Allah’s permission, we aim to take amiiraa global — opening stores
internationally and offering worldwide delivery to serve Muslims wherever they may
be.
